1 in 4 people suffer from regular sleep problems. Our modern way of life – with open-all-hours supermarkets, burning the candle at both ends, stress and anxiety at work being largely responsible for this because they upset the bodies normal circadian rhythms. Our bodies were designed to go to sleep when tired and to wake up refreshed but this is not the case for many people. Most people have difficulty dropping of to sleep because their mind is racing, and then when they do drop off they wake again in the early hours of the morning, which can be very distressing as well as very wearing on the body.
No-one functions well when they are short of sleep, as it not only compromises your immune system but can severely affect your day to day performance. Lack of sleep has also been shown to increase inflammation in the body, which can exacerbate many illness’s.
